Pregnancy and Parenting
Title IX protects Pregnant and Parenting individuals from discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions. Title IX requires equal access and equal participation for Pregnant and Parenting individuals in educational programs and activities including work, clubs, sports, honor societies, leadership opportunities, and other activities.
Adjustments and Assistance
Snow College will provide reasonable adjustments to a Pregnant and Parenting Individuals including, but not limited to:
- assistance with parking considerations
- communication and support for reasonable and appropriate breaks for standing, lactation, nursing, etc.
- providing support for one's physical environment (i.e. accessible seating)
- requesting an Incomplete in a course when applicable and appropriate

Campus Support
Student Assistance
Absences due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions will be excused with documentation from a medical professional indicating that such absences are deemed necessary.
Employee Assistance
Pregnant and Parenting Employees are encouraged to be in contact with the Office of Human Resources for additional assistance and support. Information regarding legal rights for Pregnant Workers under Federal Law is available through the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Harassment and Discrimination
Snow College prohibits harassment of students because of pregnancy or related conditions. Harassing conduct can take many forms, including verbal acts and name-calling, graphic and written statements, and other conduct that may be humiliating, physically threatening, or harmful.
Particular actions that could constitute prohibited harassment include making sexual comments or jokes about an individual's pregnancy, calling a pregnant/parenting individual sexually-charged names, spreading rumors about the individual's sexual activity, making sexual propositions, making sexually-suggestive gestures, and more.
Discrimination may include, but is not limited to, preventing a pregnant or parenting individual opportunity or access to educational or occupational programs or endeavors.
Individuals who experience harassment or discrimination due to pregnancy or parenting are encouraged to report the misconduct immediately by completing our online reporting form.
